THE WRITER
I am a Swiss watches enthusiast as far as I can tell and, like everybody else found some ways to make great deals. For my first watch, the choice was easy, I saw it to the wrist of Sean Connery in the James Bond, I wanted this Submariner 5513.
From that moment, I can say that I have been literally caught by the passion of Swiss watches. My saving didn’t allow me to own several watches, so I soon found myself to change after wearing the latest model I got. But the more important the passion, the more I was interested in new models or watches that I found not that interesting one year earlier. And over time, this infatuation with these watches became what could be called the real passion, in the true sense of the word. I admired finally watches for what they really were: works of art. Until 2001, numerous watches could be found in local newspaper ads or in specialized markets. But the Internet has become the communication tool it is today, I found myself surfing to indulge my passion and pursue new business.
The first surprise was to see the difference in price. The Rolex Submariner less than 1500 euros! Fortunately, I am quite suspicious about the transactions on the Internet and my experience in the second hand helped me so I started to do extensive research on the models shown in the ad. Soon, I learned that if the opportunity is too good, watch is probably false. So I have conducted research for two years on the topic of counterfeiting. Even bluffing resellers to catch maximum information and pictures.
I was very unpleasantly surprised by the quality of recent and especially by the speed of developments in the manufacturing of these "watches". My book contains this experience and help new or collectible watches enthusiasts to very quickly recognize a fake Rolex, Cartier or Panerai.
